Butterfly Guard Pass - Over-Under Pass

June 14, 2010 by admin

Tony Rinaldi demonstrates a butterfly guard pass which prevents your opponent from hooking your leg and sweeping you. Generally, you keep tight against your opponent, killing his hooks. In the first pass, you sprawl and grab one leg and get a 2-on-1 with your legs against one of your opponent's legs. Then you place your weight on your shoulder and complete the pass. In the second pass, you get an over-under grip to prevent your opponent from hooking your leg. But be mindful not to let your opponent free his other leg for a triangle.
