Tony Rinaldi demonstrates the proper way to stand when your opponent has a collar grip. First, never place your hands on the floor because it opens you up to many attacks. If your opponent grabs your collar when you posture up, grab your opponent's other arm to prevent a cross-collar choke. Also grab your opponent's other sleeve and flare your leg out so your opponent cannot break down your posture. Then stand straight up. Push down to open the guard and keep your elbows and knees connected.
