Saulo Riberio demonstrates how to open a closed guard without standing. First, Saulo discusses a few small details about placing your knee on your opponent's butt. Instead of placing your knee in the middle (where you lose your base and can easily get swept), place you knee slightly on the outside of the butt. Next, Saulo discusses the importance of keeping your posting arm's elbow in contact with your opponent's leg to prevent your opponent from attacking the arm and breaking your posture. To open the guard, you step your leg back at a 45 degree angle to so you are perpendicular to your opponent. Then push down on his leg while turning your leg in a circular path away from your opponent to open the closed guard.
